Fortingall Hotel is a unique and special place constructed in the late 19th Century. Designed by the renowned architect, James M Maclaren whose work was a great source of inspiration for Charles Rennie MacIntosh. It is a Scottish Grade B Listed Arts and Crafts property.
The main reception hall is central to the hotel and provides access to the reception rooms and imposing staircase to the guest accommodation. The Guest Lounge is warm and welcoming with many original Arts and Craft features remaining, including the cornicing, bay window and open fireplace. With a mixture of sofas and easy chairs the lounge also contains a grand piano. Across the hallway, double doors open to the library - tastefully decorated and with bookshelves and open fire. It is a perfect place for guests to relax and enjoy the tranquillity of Fortingall. Both lounge and library have stunning views over to Drummond Hill.
The 50-cover dining room is located at the rear of the guest lounge. This impressive room, with a large open fire, has appealing period features including deep cornicing and 4 substantial windows allowing an abundance of natural light to fill the room. Double doors link the guest lounge and dining room. The private dining room is located at the rear of the dining room. With solid oak flooring, large log burning stove and striking decoration the room is ideal for private events, including the annual Fortingall Hogmanay Ceilidh.
The Ewe Bar has its own direct access from the front car park. This is a cosy dog - friendly hostelry, for guests and visitors, and can accommodate 20 covers. It is often packed when live music is on – guests in the summer overflow to sit at tables outside. The log burning stove is rarely out in the winter months, creating a welcoming ambience and ideal refuge after a day in the great outdoors.
