BUILDINGS OF OUR HISTORY - PALACE OF THE ORDER OF THE TEMPLE
The Palace of the Order of the Temple is a building of the early sixteenth century, erected on the ruins of an old medieval Castle, built in the second quarter of the twelfth century.
The castle was built by the Templars on an earlier Moorish fortress, conquered by D. Afonso Henriques, first king of Portugal.

In structural terms it is a large quadrilateral enclosed on itself, with interior courtyard and high and extensive facades, torn asymmetrically in the three wings by sixteenth-century windows, Manueline style with emphasis on the north façade, double span separated by mainel torso.
The Palace of the Order of the Temple underwent changes at the end of the first decade of 1500, maintaining to this day all its structure and characteristics since then, to highlight the Manueline style windows.
The building has two floors interconnected with each other, on the ground floor there are 11 suites, kitchen and on the 1st floor there are 8 very large rooms, having the largest 140m2 and ceilings in apple.
In the summer the Solar Panels are used for the heating of the waters and in the winter the Electric Heating system (Water Heaters) is used.
