It has a road that connects to Mosteiros and Ribeira Grande. Although its main economic activity is agriculture, a large slice of the population works elsewhere in the municipality of Ponta Delgada. It is washed by the Atlantic Ocean to the north. It belongs to this parish the place of Aflitos, important residential nucleus and place of implantation of the Golf Course of Batalha.
