The position of the villa is particularly privileged and quiet in a green part of Kifissia, in Strofyli, and the view all around is unique.  The original building was rebuilt in 1888 by the distinguished architect Ioannis Moussi, a graduate of the Beaux-Arts School of Paris. He was even awarded a Silver Medal for Architecture at the Paris International Exhibition in 1900 for his designs for the University of Berkeley. His other works are the "Phoebus House" (Educational Foundation of the Dutch Embassy), the building that currently houses the Turkish Embassy, the design of the church of Agios Dionysios Areopagitos in Skoufa Street and the Archaeological Museum of Elefsina.  The modified "medieval" style that replaced the neoclassical rhythm in the country houses of the time was rendered here in a freer and dreamier form, a fairytale tower in the green landscape of old Kifissia. The construction of the mansion is stone, with visible stonework, carved stone pillars, corners and lintels. Over time, around the 1930s, a more modern and "westernized" rhythm was imposed on the premises of the mansion, which goes back to Art Deco.  The modern addition (1990) was incorporated in the spirit of the original building, with special emphasis on the static perfection of the whole. The modern spaces combine modern functional requirements with the style and comfort of the old mansion. A notable artistic element of the mansion is the monumental marble lining of the hearth (fireplace), also known as the "Greek Hearth" in the main reception area, the work of the great sculptor Ioannis Vitsaris, equal to that of Giannoulis Halepas. This unique work of art in the history of Greek sculpture was transported at the expense of the Greek State to the International Exhibition of Paris in 1900 (Exposition Internationale et Universelle de Paris, 1900), where it received a Gold Award.  More information at the link: http://glypto.wordpress.com/2009/07/05/%CE%B2%CE%B9%CF%84%CF%83%CE%AC%CF%81%CE%B7% CF%82-%CE%B9%CF%89%CE%AC%CE%BD%CE%BD%CE%B7%CF%82-vitsaris-ioannis-5/  The mansion has been associated with persons and events that marked decisive developments in modern Greek history.
